Mission 2: A look around the sofa Ideas • Collect small items into groups.  Use a picture, toy or photocard of Numberjacks 1-6 and ‘give’ them the right number of things.   • Look for things that come in ‘packs’ and count them – such as items of food. • Use your fingers to make groups of different numbers.  • Look for things that are up high or down low.  What’s the highest place in the house/you’ve ever been/you can think of.  What’s the lowest place? • Arrange toys on shelves or dolls or action kits to put them high or low or in the middle. • Out and about, look for people and things that are in groups and count them. • Use the Counter Machine to add and take away counters in groups of 1, 2, and 5. Agents get to know the Gym and the Cosy Room, and count the Buddy Blocks. This mission focuses on counting small numbers of objects, especially the buddy blocks belonging to each Numberjack. There is also some subtraction and the ideas of high and low. Agents visit the Gym and Cosy Room to get to know the sofa, and to practise their observation skills.  Vocabulary: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, high, low. .
